On January 19, 2026, staff at "The Quay Hotel and Spa" in Conwy, Wales, were surprised to find a young seal pup resting among vehicles in the hotel car park. The visit occurred shortly after Storm Gorretti, which may have contributed to the seal wandering from its usual habitat. The seal was described as calm and seemingly unfazed by its unusual surroundings, which amused the hotel staff. The hotel shared on social media that it was a "seal-iously memorable moment," ensuring that despite the surprise, proper steps were taken to safeguard the animal.

Upon discovery, hotel staff promptly contacted the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR). The rescue team assessed the baby seal and ensured it was healthy before transporting it to a specialist facility for further care. Staff confirmed that the pup was underweight but otherwise doing well. After being checked, the seal was released into a more suitable, secluded location and continues to be monitored to ensure its safety.
